Hi! I'm Brooke.
Wife to 1 & mom to 5.
I love a perfect God, imperfectly. My wonderful husband loves me more than I deserve, and I spend my days learning alongside my children. I didn’t begin motherhood with the mindset of learning alongside my kids. Though I did begin motherhood intending to homeschool, I figured my own learning ship had sailed when I got a diploma and a few years of college under my belt. My K-12 education was by no means the worst, and I’m thankful for parts of it. But, I recall that my curiosity and desire to learn were dampened along the way. I am thankful for the ways the Lord has since guided my feet upon the path of enthusiastic learning as I home-educate my own children, that I may pour into them from a flowing stream rather than from a stagnant pond. I discovered Charlotte Mason in 2017, and along with her philosophy, a wonderful online community of people have helped re-awaken the sense of wonder and imagination which was lost to me for a time. The inspiring blogs, websites, and podcasts of Brandy Vencel, Mystie Winckler, Dawn Garrett, Art Middlekauff, Pam Barnhill, & Cindy Rollins, Scholé Sisters, and Sarah MacKenzie have helped to spark my own desire to grow, learn, discover, and wonder, and continue to be such an encouragement to me. As I strive in my own growth, documenting what I learn along the way, I hope this blog acts as an accountability for me to continue to grow and be challenged in thought and application of new ideas and realizations. As more moms (and dads!) determine to take the learning journey alongside their children, those overflowing cups are sure to impact the world for good. The baton will always need to be taken up and passed on, as “homescholé-ers” are born and as they grow up. I am thrilled to be a part of this, and I hope that you and I can enjoy mutual edification and encouragement here. |
